Satyapal Malik
Satyapal Malik is an Indian politician and former Governor of various Indian states. He was born on July 24, 1946, in the town of Sonepat, Haryana, India. Malik started his career as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, from 1989 to 1990. He also served as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism in the government of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Malik later joined the Indian National Congress and served as the Governor of various Indian states, including Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Goa. He was appointed as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2018, and he played a key role in the revocation of Article 370, which gave the state a special status. Malik was also instrumental in the formation of the new Union Territory of Ladakh, which was carved out of Jammu and Kashmir.
Malik has been known for his straightforwardness and his efforts to maintain transparency in the functioning of his offices. He has been a vocal critic of corruption in politics and has advocated for electoral reforms to reduce the influence of money and muscle power in elections.
